Because it just doesn't feel like work to me.....at all! I had such an amazing time at my workshop this last weekend in St. George Utah. I was so lucky to have 10 amazing photographers come from Utah, Arizona, Washington DC, Minnesota, Canada and Idaho and what a talented group they were for sure! It's always just so relaxing to be surrounded by people who share your obsession and the passion of photography. I was so nervous about the weather but it mostly held out for us. We had a lot of wind, but I just love wind in pictures so I was thrilled with that. It did get cloudy the last hour of the night, but that made for some great silhouettes.

I really am thrilled that it was so much fun and just a great weekend of learning. It's always a little hard to come home after the adrenaline of the weekend wears off, but it was great to see my baby girl, who I just adore beyond words.

Also, I have already received a bunch of emails asking me about when I will be hosting another workshop. Well, I hope to do another in the Fall, probably late September. In the meantime, I may have another opening or 2 for one on one mentoring here in Utah this spring (or even possibly a group of 2-3). So if you are interested please email me for details.

So I guess it's just time to show you the pictures......I hope you enjoy as much as I do!! And I love to hear from all of you, so don't be shy :)

Yesterday, I had the pleasure to mentor Julie from Oklahoma, (Thanks again, I had a blast with you!!) We lucked out with beautiful weather and headed down town. We worked with my favorite little model ever. Not only is she beautiful, she is such a natural and just so polite and sweet. I have worked with her many times before and hope to for years to come! I had to post a ton, couldn't choose just a few, so I hope you enjoy!!

Brad and Jen’s Story
In November 2003, after just ending a serious relationship, one of my friends at work convinced me to go out with her brother-in-law, Brad, who was here arranging to attend BYU, after spending the previous two years in California on a mission. We had a good time, and I was impressed with him, but we both felt a little awkward, and didn’t know if it would go anywhere. The day after our date, he went back to Washington for the holidays with his family. He called me a week later, and we began a long distance friendship. Over the next few weeks, through telephone calls and e-mails, we got to know each other and were able to share deep feelings and experiences, without the complications of a physical relationship. When he returned to Utah to begin school, we looked forward to dating, but I was a little nervous, because I wasn’t sure I remembered what he looked like. He will tell you that he can’t believe I didn’t remember, because his crooked smile, amazing charm, and athletically good looks are unforgettable.  I knew I loved his good heart, sage advice, and sense of humor, and I hoped that the physical attraction would be equally as strong. But that didn’t prove to be a problem, and from the moment he returned, we were inseparable.
After dating for the next 2 months, he proposed to me on Valentine’s Day 2004, and I eagerly accepted. Meanwhile, in school, Brad began to notice he felt tired and sluggish and had a sore throat. He went to a doctor who thought he might have mononucleosis. However, when referred to a specialist, he was diagnosed with Leukemia. We were told that he would need to enter the hospital three days later, and be subjected to weeks of chemotherapy treatments, radiation, and eventually a bone marrow transplant. He had to drop his classes at BYU, and his parents and I became his non-stop bedside companions for the next 6 weeks. He had a central line put into his chest for his medications, lost his energy and his hair, and endured fevers, chills, nausea and many other horrible side effects. He had to wear a mask to protect him from our germs. His father would bring in motivational quotes each day to put on the wall and keep him fighting the disease. One day his temperature hit 104 degrees and in spite of ice packs and medications, it wouldn’t go down. The doctors fully expected that he would not survive the night. But thanks to many prayers (and a Priesthood Blessing) his fever miraculously left and he defied the medical odds.
Six weeks of being in the hospital and 2 rounds of chemotherapy finally put him in remission. We watched our “wedding date” disappear into medical visits. Brad was allowed to receive treatments at home for the next few weeks. He then returned to the hospital to receive his bone marrow transplant, which we were told he would have to have in order to survive. His three older brothers were tested, and two were found to be a perfect match. So after another round of chemotherapy, and a week of full body radiation, he received the life-sustaining bone marrow from his brother on July 9, 2003, and we saw another miracle as his body accepted it and he began the slow road to recovery.
After three months, the doctors finally gave us the okay to get married, with the stipulation that we couldn’t be around more than 50 people, and we couldn’t be more than 30 minutes away from the hospital. I had always imagined a wonderful celebration with all of our friends and family, and a honeymoon in an exotic location. Instead, we found ourselves having an intimate ceremony and a luncheon with just our immediate families. It turned out to be perfect, and was followed by a wonderful week in Park City. Almost a year later, we were able to have a reception and celebrate our marriage and Brad’s good health with our extended family and friends.
We thought we had had our fair share of challenges, but the week before our wedding, I had gone to the doctor for my pre-marital checkup, and he found a lump on my thyroid. He told us not to worry too much, but 6 months later when it was checked again, we were devastated to learn that I had papillary carcinoma, a form of thyroid cancer. Even the word “cancer” struck fear in our hearts, and I didn’t want to go through what I had seen my husband endure. Luckily, this kind wasn’t too aggressive, and after surgery to remove half my thyroid, the tests showed it had not spread, and I was given a clean bill of health.
Shortly after my surgery we decided we wanted to start trying to have a family. The doctors had warned us that Brad’s cancer treatments could result in sterility, and had encouraged us to do some sperm banking prior to his first chemotherapy treatment. After trying on our own, and then meeting with an infertility specialist and a failed attempt of artificial insemination, we decided we needed to adopt. We signed up with an agency, prepared our profile, and spent months of frustration waiting and hoping and seeing no results. Finally, in an attempt to discover what path we should take, we met with my uncle, a General Authority in the LDS Church. He counseled us to consider going through invitro fertilization to have our own children. For the first time we felt uplifted and encouraged, and after taking a week to decide what path to follow, we both felt strongly that we should attempt invitro.
Again we faced the future with medical help and a lot of questions. But our doctor and his staff were incredible, and we knew we were in great hands. Two and a half months later we were given the wonderful news that we were pregnant with twins! Like everything else we had endured, my pregnancy was not always easy. I was high risk, spent two months on bedrest, and delivered 5 weeks early. But our precious little girls, Brynlee and Brielle, were born on February 20, 2009. They were just under 5 pounds, but again miraculously, they were perfect, and were able to come home with us from the hospital.
It is now 6 years from the day Brad proposed to me and our love story began, and our darling daughters will celebrate their first birthday next week. Brad is 5-1/2 years cancer free, and is considered cured. We have seen miracle after miracle in our lives together during those 6 years, and we treasure every day because we have learned that there are no guarantees in life, and that time spent with family and loved ones bring us true joy in the journey. We have wonderful memories intertwined with the hardships and heartaches, but we know that we are so blessed to be where we are today. We thank the Lord everyday for each other, our good health, our beautiful baby girls, and the many miracles – large and small – that we have experienced in our lives.
We know there are many people who have struggled and endured perhaps even more than we have, but we thank you for letting us share our story of love and triumph, and we hope that you will be able to feel uplifted as you share the joy we feel to be at this point in our lives together.

What is Love?

I always felt that love is a word with no real definition. Love is open
to interpretation, and is often confused with other emotions. Does Love at
first sight really exist? Can you really just look at someone and instantly
fall in love? I would say no, but I don’t think it’s impossible. I don’t
really know what love is, because its different things to different people.
I started dating Kelle, the summer following 8th grade. I was 13
years old, and I was in love. Is that even possible? I’m not sure but my
whole body felt like it was plugged into an electrical socket the first time
we kissed. She was so beautiful, and the way she looked at me sent
shock waves down my spine. After a few months went by I began to lose
interest in the world around me; friends and normal teenage things just
didn’t interest me anymore. I started everyday trying to figure out ways to
see her sooner, and I end each day the same way. I only saw her in my world,
nothing else mattered. Could I have found the girl I wanted to grow old with
at the age of 13?
A year and a half later Kelle gave birth to Andre, our beautiful baby
boy. We got married 5 months later, and everyone we knew thought we were
crazy. I don’t think we were given much of a chance, and probably with good
reason. I didn’t have a job or any money. We were kids who didn’t know what
being a parent meant, and we had very little life experience. I could go on
for hours about the things we didn’t have, but we had each other, and that’s
all we would ever need.
We have now been married for 13 years, and despite all the obstacles that
life throws our way, I still feel that electricity when we kiss, and she
still sends shock waves down my spine when she gives me that look. She is
still the only woman I see in the world, and the only woman I ever will. I
may not know how to define Love, but I’ll tell you this much. I know it
when I see her.

Today is my sweet grandma's 78th birthday! So I had to give her a big shout out! She is the sweetest Grandma a girl could ever have, and she truly is an amazing photographer herself (she's a big hero of mine). I have this picture of her and my grandpa, and it is MY FAVORITE picture of the both of them together. I love everything about it. I love how she looks like my mom, I love her swimming suit, I love the cute kiss, I love the old car, I love the lens baby effect it has going on, I love that my mom took it when she was 9 or 10 years old, I ADORE IT!! So I had to share, hope you all love it as much as I do. Happy Birthday Grandma, I LOVE U!

So as I lay awake for hours the other night (insomnia is such a wonderful part of pregnancy isn't it?) I was thinking of how my life has unfolded. I was thinking how much my life has changed since I got married almost 11 years ago and really truly how my life just reads like a story. When I announced the news of my pregnancy I was so delighted to read the many congratulatory emails and also the sweet stories that a lot of you added about your lives as well. So there I lay at 4:30ish am it dawned on me that EVERYONE has a story, Everyone has a story worth telling about their lives. And I would love to hear yours! It can be a simple story of love or a amazing story of friendship. It can be about the miracle of your children or the story of your journey in life. It can be anything really but I would love to know about the story in your life that you feel is worth telling.

For this I am giving away a free session to one winner (up to 4 people can be included in the photo shoot) and 50% off of all prints or products (please visit HERE for a complete list of prices). All entries must be in by midnight Feb. 10th and I plan to announce the winner on Valentine's Day Feb 14th. The session will need to be scheduled this winter or spring in Utah County (Feb.-April). Goodbye 2009....hello 2010!!

I sit here totally amazed at how fast the years fly by the older I get. It has been 2 years now that I have owned a DSLR camera. I purchased my first camera (Nikon D80) a few days after Christmas 2007. What a crazy ride it has been thus far. It has been such a blessing for me to find my perfect creative outlet. I often tell people when they ask me why I chose photography "I finally found my canvas, the most perfect art for my soul." There is something so powerful to me to be able to freeze a split second of time, one perfect moment that will never be again. The perfect light fading into the horizon, the perfect kiss shared between mother and daughter, the perfect, priceless expression of my own child. I say it often but I truly love the art of photography and getting to do that for a living is beyond my wildest dreams. It has always been my honor to be able to be a part of my clients lives for a few hours and capture their love for each other.

I had nothing short of an amazing 2009. I was able to grow so much as a photographer and expand who I as am an artist. I've taken a look back at some of my favorite images from last year and I wanted to share them with you all. It is always so hard to choose "favorites" as so many of my images are very special to me. But for one reason or another the pictures I am posting below move me either creatively, artistically, emotionally, or they simply just make me smile. I hope you enjoy a quick glimpse of my journey in 2009.

My Christmas Miracle

I am so blessed.....beyond words, I am so blessed.

I have been married for almost 11 years. For 7 long years my husband and I struggled with infertility. After many procedures and almost giving up we were finally blessed with the pregnancy of our daughter. "A true miracle" I was told by many doctors. I was also told that we would probably never have other biological children. We had come to accept that and were so beyond grateful for the miracle of my daughter.

I figured God would let me know when it was time to pursue having another child. I had told myself that this January would be a good time to decide what direction we wanted to go in. Well, God had another plan. In Oct. I found out that I was expecting. Imagine our complete surprise, "what??, we can't....what??, really??........wow!!" But it's true, I am expecting this June, my second little miracle.

It has been a fun first months, but I have been pretty sick, so I have taken a bit of a break this fall. I am feeling a bit back to my normal self, and will be getting back into the swing of things this Jan. So if you are interested in a photo session or a mentoring session please email me. I have also had a lot of interest in another workshop, so if you are still interested let me know.

I have had the awesome opportunity to work with these gorgeous girls and their mom and dad 3 times now. I always have the best time with them. They are so easy going in front of the camera and just have fun. They are so cute together and that just made our session super easy yesterday. I only have 2 pictures for now, but will be back with MANY more soon.

I adore this picture, the colors, the emotion, the leaves, their clothes, EVERYTHING!! In my eyes, it's about as good as they come! Ohhh, I love what I do!

First I must say I am so behind on blogging, sorry about that everyone! Tis the busy season! I have to share some from my most recent session. This is not only a great client but a good friend of mine ( who is so stunning I might add!!). I have had the privilege to work with them a few times now and they are just so much fun to photograph! They are just very laid back, so comfortable and truly allow me to capture the real them. It was so much fun to work with you, I hope to work with you again in the future!!

Going on Vacation! {Utah Children photographer}

Wow, I have been so busy lately, so unfortunately the blog is a bit behind! Sorry about that. I've got a small sneak peek of a cutie I shot this week. Also I was invited to speak at the Scrap Girl Convention yesterday. I spoke about tips and tricks to shooting in manual and a good handful of other things. It was a blast, what a fun group of ladies (there were about 150+ ladies and a few guys too). So thank you all for the invitation to speak, it was fun ( a bit nerve wracking too) but mostly fun!

Also I will be away from my computer and my phone from tomorrow Sat. Oct. 10th until Fri. Oct 16th. We are taking a family vacation to San Diego.....oh I can't wait!! Lots of beach going', the zoo, sea world to do, and mostly just getting away from the responsabilties of life to just relax and chill, well except for all of the running around after a 3 year old we will be doing......Oh and thanks to my assistant Chellese for her awesome suggestion to bury my sweeties binky at the beach. Yep, I know it's bad my daughter is HOOKED like crazy to her binky (just at night though so never during the day) the more we talk about taking it away the more she's attached to it.....I am OVER that. So my cute assistant Chellese suggested we bury it at the beach when we go...GREAT IDEA!!! So this morning I talked to my daughter about burying her binky at the beach.....and......she is SO excited that she gets to grow a binky tree at the beach. She actually rounded up a few binkies and said she wanted to plant more binky trees! Oh I so hope this works! I told her I would take a picture of her planting her binky tree...she's so cute!

So if you have any questions or emails while I am gone, I will get back with you as soon as I get home Fri. Oct 16th.

I have had the privilege to work with this amazing woman twice now (I photographed her family back in February). Not only is she drop dead gorgeous with a great sense of style, she is truly a genuinely nice person too. She truly is beautiful inside and out! We spent a fun morning in the studio and captured some amazing portraits. Can you believe she has 3 kids.....WOW, she looks stunning! I believe that every woman should have portraits taken of themselves, because we are all beautiful and deserve to feel beautiful in pictures! I was so lucky to get to spend the night with this awesome mom and son! Not only are they gorgeous, and super photogenic, they are both so nice too! Great combination right? Oh and their clothes....perfect!! We had a ton of fun roaming around downtown. I just love the bond these 2 have together it just shows through so much in these pictures. I am so happy I got to spend the day with my family up in the canyon enjoying the beautiful fall leaves. I am just not sure where the year has gone?? But it has made it's way around again to my most favorite time of the year. Fall to me is my heaven. The colors, the smells, the weather. I could live in this short few weeks all year long. It just makes my soul sing.......It was a PERFECT day, the kind that makes you count your blessings over and over again, I love my little family!! And of course my camera was in tow, here are just a few of the pictures that make my heart happy (:

So my husband offered to take my picture in the leaves (he did a pretty good job too), and who was I to say no (: I am rarely on the other side of the camera, so I guess today was my day!

I've been wanting to take some pictures of my husband fly fishing, and it was perfect. The light was amazing, the scenery was breathtaking, the fish were biting and I have to say my husband is so handsome!

It's going to be impossible for me to recap just how much fun I had this last Saturday at my first workshop! Smiling from ear to ear.....that's me!! Wow is all I can say about the day I had yesterday! I hosted my first workshop and it was so much fun! I had a great group of photographers from all over the states, two from California, two from Canada, one from North Carolina, one from Utah and Oh geez I've done it again, one of the M states in the middle (sorry Jen, Michigan right?) Anyways, it was such a great group of very talented photographers! The weather was not my best friend at times, we had rain and dark clouds (that made for some great photographs too) but gratefully the sun did find it 's way out often enough. I also had the BEST most AMAZING group of models. It was great to have enough models to work one on one with the photographers. The models were sooo much fun and seriously....GORGEOUS!! Thanks again you gorgeous girls!

I will have so many images from the workshop but I'm just trying to regain my sanity a bit today and enjoy my family so I will be back with many more soon!

But for now just one to hold ya over.....Oh and I got a new lens on Friday....it's love for sure!

My heart is sad today. So many great memories of growing up and all of the Patrick Swayze movies. The outsiders was always a huge favorite of mine. Dirty Dancing came out when I was in 7th grade, I can still remember seeing it in the movie theaters and I listened to that soundtrack ENDLESSLY. I had the hugest crush in 7th grade on Jeff and The song Hungry Eyes was always the song we would dance to. I can still remember what I wore when I went to see Ghost in 9th grade, we waited in line for hours to get in, and I cried so much throughout that movie. Red Dawn is still one of my all time favorites, and point break too. So many wonderful memories........rest in peace.......

I had the fun opportunity to do bridals/groomals for Malae and Clayton. She told me she loved my use of creative light so that's what we were shooting for. It was fun session, lots of great light, and lots of love between these two! Firty Four......{Utah Child Photographer}

Well today I turn Firty Four (34), as my sweetheart says anyways. I keep telling her that sounds waaay to close to Fourty Four...... not yet sweetie (thank goodness)! Well about a week ago I went up to Park Silly (a street fair up in Park City) with my baby and hubby. I hoped she would be up for letting me do a mini session with her so I prettied her up in some new Matilda Jane duds and I crossed my fingers. She was an angel, she must have known my birthday was coming up or something. She not only cooperated but she actually had so much fun! Well who wouldn't with hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, cotton candy, poodles with mohawks the size of ponies.......

I am soooo in love with every picture, I can't wait to make an album of these shots. I love how they tell such a fun story and I will forever remember what a big girl she was that day, so beautiful, so sweet, and so mine!

(SO it's 2am and I cannot pull myself away from looking at these pictures, I'm sitting here with tears falling down my cheeks, wondering what I ever did to deserve the most wonderful daughter ever, she's the best birthday present a girl could ask for, I love you a million times baby!)

A fun night in Park City with a fun family! {Utah Family Photographer}

Well I got to spend a few fun days up in Park City this last week. I had a fun session with my daughter (which is coming soon) and then ventured up again for a family session. I used to work with this family's sweet mom so it was so much fun to see her again. They have had the same photographer for, get this 25 years (wow right) and she retired and they trusted me to take her place this year (can you say just a little nervous....). So while there are always a few obstacle to overcome at every session, we ended getting some fun and beautiful shots. Oh and a huge shout out to dad who will be racing in the Kona Iron Man race this Oct. For those of you who do not know what that is.....well, let me fill you in just a bit. It's held every fall in the US city of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, the race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride across the Hawaiian lava desert, and ending with a 26.2 mile marathon along the coast of the Big Island. My husband has done a half iron man which I thought was simply amazing. But a full Iron man is probably the most prestigious athletic event ever. So I stayed up late tonight editing this amazing session, I just couldn't pull myself away! I am in LOVE with so many of these shots.....they are some of my all time favorites! What an awesome couple they are too, so nice, so much fun, and sooo in love! We had such a great night.....well except for when the gate arm thingy to the parking garage that closed and slammed down on my head. I'll go into details below. Ok so the story goes like this. We're getting ready to leave the parking garage, we see this awesome car parking and ask the guy driving if we can borrow his car to take some shots. He says yes and we're stoked. So we follow him out walking out of the parking garage right behind his car. All of a sudden SLAM, I get hit on the head by the arm of the gate that closes after each car leaves the garage. Yep, I won the stupidity award for the night, oh man it hurt so bad too!! But at least we got the shots with the great car!

I think this is my favorite shot of the night. I'm just not sure I have ever captured light like this. It was so soft and had such an amazing glow to it.
And just look at that gaze between them....wow to be young and in love......

Wow what a week it has been for me! My daughter started preschool (yes, I shed some tears) she also had her 3rd birthday (yep, I shed some more tears), and now it's over until next year (boohoo). It always makes me sad when the festivities die down and you go back to the regular stride of life. But that means I am back to work and have a fun session to post. During the craziness of last week I had soooo much fun with my seriously gorgeous sister in law (who is growing up too darn fast if you ask me!) we played around in my studio (which is just in my house at the moment). We cranked the music, put the fan full blast and danced and laughed away! She is so much fun, a natural in front of the camera and she is game for an impromtu photo shoot anytime!! Thanks sweetie, love ya! I am also starting to look for a studio space in Utah county. I have found a few but nothing I Love so I am still hunting. I would also be up for sharing a studio space with other photographers so email me if you are interested! Ok like I said my cute sis in law is always up for a photo shoot so a week or so ago we also went out to get some product shots for my families business, Less Stress Powersports. We have been selling these cute beach cruisers for such an awesome price. Of course I immediately thought about a photo shoot when he first got them in! I should be sleeping {Utah Family Photographer}

Well it's been a crazy few days for me. Session on Sunday, session on Monday, and surgery for my husband this morning......and I'm still awake. Call me crazy but I just can't sleep. My sweet mother in law stayed with my husband tonight at the hospital recovering so I could come home to my little girl. I will be back to him bright and early but I just couldn't sleep tonight. He did pretty good but was very sick today and pretty medicated. Well, I thought I'd get some work done tonight so he can have my FULL attention this coming week.

So anyways, I stayed up working on a few sessions. I spend the evening last night with a FUN family from Canada. This sweet families mom Shellie, is an awesome photographer! Check her out here! Anyways I was so flattered when she chose me from a long list of talented Utah photographers to shoot her family while they're here on vacation. The session was so much fun and full of energy with her adorable 4 boys, we grabbed some greats shots and had a blast! Thanks again, Shellie......I wish you didn't live soooo far away! I had to share just a couple pictures from my session last night, so dang cute if you ask me! I have a zillion more to share from this session so watch for those to come soon. It was mom's idea for the ice cream and I was so excited! Well we saved it the end (and you can see why) but it was so hot it turned into cream, hardly any ice left. Workshop is full!! Well I finally decided to do it! I get several emails a week asking me if I do any mentoring. I have done one on one sessions this year and they have just been so much fun for me. It gives me the opportunity to combine 2 of my passions in life, photography and teaching (I used to be a teacher back in the day)! Anyways, I thought it might just be kind of fun to put together a small workshop. This workshop is only available to 5 photographers. I had the chance yesterday to shoot an amazing photographer friend of mine, Jessica. It makes me sad she lives all the way on the other side of the states......She happened to be here for one day, she shot four sessions and we fit her own session somewhere in the middle, and she's pregnant (she's a rock star). Anyways, I just ADORE this shot, oh wow she's so stunning. A true testament to me that every woman should have her picture taken while pregnant, such a beautiful time to capture. Some FuN stuff I did today {Utah newborn photographer}

Well today has been a good day. First it started off with an intense day at bootcamp, I'm trying to lose a few inches this summer, but unfortunately I keep finding them....

Then I got to work with the cutest newborn. My sweet neighbor Shannon had the most beautiful little boy with mounds of curly locks. He didn't want to be unswaddled though so we got a few of him just as cozy and snuggled as can be.

Then it was out to play in the sprinklers with my sweetest munchkin, well I wouldn't truthfully call her sweet lately....oh boy the terrible 2's are in full swing. I just have this phrase on repeat in mind constantly lately....."it's only a phase, it's only a phase." She actually spit on the ground at WalMart the other day she was so frustrated about something silly......but then she goes and tells me I'm her best friend followed by a huge hug and a sloppy kiss...... Oh I love her so!

So anyways they asked if they could use my picture of him for their billboards advertising their agency. UM....I was flattered to say the least. So needless to say my sweet nephew Riley and I are so excited. He has seen it ( he's been living down there part time going on auditions over the summer) and said it looks awesome! Well the Ali Hohn workshop has come and gone and WOW my head is spinning with info. I really did have so much fun! Ali is a sweetheart and I got to meet so many other amazing photographers too. It's always fun to be around other people who share your same passion/obsession. Thanks again to Ali and the other photographers. I had a bit of time today to work on a few of my many favorites, now I'm off to get ready for an engagment session tonight....keep your fingers crossed for no rain!

We got caught in the middle of a serious downpour so we headed for cover in a used book store. It was a challenge but fun!

This picture is a good example of how I really plan to use this type of lighting we learned this last weekend. You know I love my amazing skies so now I know how to keep my subjects lit, well the right way anyways!

Well I am home and have sooo much to get done before the Ali Hohn workshop this weekend. But while I was gone I had a blast shooting a bit. My sweetest cousin got married in a beautiful country wedding (Congrats you guys!) and I spent about 5 minutes with them snapping away. Then I had so much fun with a sweet family too. The mom is a great photographer from Vegas and I seriously wonder how she does it all, running a successful photography business and she has 3 kids under the age of 3! She's a rock star and a sweetheart, thanks again Meghan! And a HUGE thank you to my sister who was such an awesome assistant to me! I have a million more to pictures share but it will probably be after the workshop so check back for more images from my last sessions and also some from the workshop!

Just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up that my summer sessions for June, July and August are almost full. I will only be taking few more sessions. I had sooo much fun at my recent senior session. I have known this sweet girl for many years now and she really is a sweet and truly beautiful young lady! We had such a beautiful evening to work with, it was VERY windy but I just LOVE the way the wind looks in these pictures.

When I was shooting her in the field I was so in my element. If I had to pick the perfect scenario to shoot in this was pretty close. The back light was amazing, the weeds were tall and ungroomed, they swirled so perfectly in the wind, with pockets of white wild flowers that were so organic and natural. I just can't fully explain it, I just knew when I started shooting it was going to be magical. If I could bottle up who I am as a photographer, it would be the field portions of this session.

OK enough with the ramblings, enjoy the many pictures I have to share, I hope you all don't mind when I share a million (: . Thanks again K you were awesome and such a trooper with the wind! I hope you love your sneak peek! Oh and congratulations!!

3 generations of beautiful {Utah family photographer}

This session was the session that almost never was......My sweet client had the vision of a session in a beautiful full bloom cherry orchard with her mother and grandmother. Well, we both watched carefully and scoped out numerous locations. Every time a date would line up for all four of us it would rain or the orchard had already bloomed (I think we rescheduled about 4 times). It was crazy, so I finally tracked down an orchard that had not bloomed yet down in Santaquin. I swear they must have thought I was crazy at this orchard, I called them everyday to see if they were in full bloom. Well, we finally decided we were going to go rain or shine and see what we could come up with. When I left my house for the session, it was a bit cloudy but nothing too crazy. But as I drove closer to Santaquin, I drove straight towards this huge ugly black cloud. Just as I was about to take the exit I was in a downpour. Oh man I was so bummed I thought we may not catch a break. Well about 10 minutes after we all arrived the rain stopped....woohoo. We were all so thrilled. I'm not a fan of shooting with overcast skies, seeing that I LOVE my back light and all. But we were just so thrilled it wasn't pouring anymore. So with all of our obstacles I think we got some great shots. Thanks for being patient for your sneak peek. I had a blast with you girls!

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mom -
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

Oh man I have been so busy the past few days, lots of sessions and lots of pictures! I am trying to play catch up, but the good news is that I have a lot of sneak peaks to come. I will be going out of town tomorrow and will not be back until Mon. We are doing a bit of staycating in St. George this weekend to watch my husband race in a tri. It may be a bit hot, but swimming and boating on the lake sounds good to me. So off I go for some much needed R and R. Should I feel kind of guilty that I'll be relaxing while my husband will be swimming, biking and running his booty off?

So all I can say is that I had sooo much fun at my last session with this B-E-A-U-tiful senior. She was such a doll, she had me crackin' up! She would be laughing so cute and I'd go to snap a picture and she'd strike a pose, it was hilarious. She was a complete natural in front of the camera and was up for anything I had in mind (poor thing laid and sat in a lot of weeds!) Thanks for coming from Bountiful to shoot your session. Congratulations and good luck in the future!

Well I'm back from my vacation and I've been sitting on my computer now for hours answering the many, many emails I got while I was gone. I think I'm finally through, whew.....I had a blast at Zion with the family and just hanging out for Easter. I photographed my sister family also, which was fun! It was a blast and a much needed break. I have a good handful of pictures to come!

OK so it's simple really, I LOVE my job! You know, I can't even call it a job. It's a passion, it's a blessing, I'm so lucky. I've had a smile on my face all night thinking about the great couple I worked with, the beautiful weather, the fun pictures and getting to do what I love to do, telling a story through beautiful moments captured.

I had sooo much fun tonight shooting my first ever engagement session. (and a huge thanks to my assistant Chellese too!) What a gorgeous couple and seriously sooo much fun. They were so up for anything, full of laughter and smiles and well,,, so in love!

Nikon D300 for sale - SOLD

SOLD I am selling my 9 month old Nikon D300 (and everything that came in the box, the manual, cords, strap etc.) with an fully transferable extended warranty. It's very hard to find a used camera that is covered by a warranty! It is a 3 year diamond warranty from www.mackcam.com I have 2 years and 2 months left on the warranty. I paid $400 for the warranty. The warranty is awesome. It covers manufacturer defects, impact damage, sand/grit damage, accidental and unintentional abuse, mechanical malfunctions, normal and abnormal wear and tear, and 2 free cleanings.

I will accept cash or paypal but you must pay the paypal fees (which are 3%, an additional $39). I bought the camera at Allen's camera in Orem last June so I've only had it 9 months. I asked Allen's camera what I should sell this combo for he said to ask $1500, and because I want to sell it quick I decided to ask $1300. It will sell fast!

It is an awesome camera and has been wonderful for me. I just upgraded to the D700 that is the only reason I am selling.

Maternity- I'm looking for a cute pregnant belly to photograph. I have a million ideas in my head for a fun maternity session. I'm looking for a stylish, fit, mom to be, willing to have her belly photographed, who will be in the 32nd-36th week of pregnancy in May, June or July. SESSIONS FILLED!

Newborn twins- Anyone have two little one's you're waiting on? I would love to work with twins, (geez, you think I might be a bit baby hungry(: ). I would need to photograph them within the first 10 days they are home for the best possible pictures so please keep that in mind. Still looking for sweet twins!

Babies- Must be between the ages of 6-10 months (in either Late May or June). The baby must be able to sit up unassisted. I love working with this age, oh it's so much fun, so please let me know if you are interested. (Ok it's official, I'm baby hungry!) Session filled!

No vacation for us......

Well I was supposed to be in Lake Havasu this weekend cheering the hubby on in the triathalon he raced. But both my baby and I got sick and I decided it would be best to stay home. Yesterday we both felt a bit better and we had such a fun time at a local nursery picking out flowers. The light was soo beautiful in there I grabbed a few picks. I would love to do an actual session in this nursery, so if anyone is game let me know! I also found a new location that I love and got my daughter's new pink skirt in the mail last week (from American Eagle's 77 kids) so I thought we'd try for a few more picks since she's been so hard lately. We were there for 10 minutes and I got a few I love. I'll be getting back to emails and messages tomorrow. Hope you all have had a great weekend.
